Research Agronomist - Southwest Victoria

Southern Farming Systems is a grower member organization operating in the higher rainfall zone of southern Victoria providing field research development and extension in the cropping and pasture industries. We operate trial sites from Bairnsdale to Dunkeld and provide services to over 500 farm members.

Managing our involvement with the new Grain N Graze 2 project will be the key task for this role.  It will also include management of trials at our Hamilton and Streatham branch sites.  This will include both pasture and cropping field trials and will include onsite field works, project planning and field day events. Experience with crop and pasture agronomy and research is essential.

• This is a full time position;
• Experience with using farm equipment essential (tractors, sprayers etc);
• Operation will be partially based from home and onsite at the trial
• research locations (Dunkeld, Lake Bolac);
• Sound computer skills, particularly MS Excel and email;
• Good communication and people skills;
• Good affinity with the farming community an advantage;
• Drivers licence is required. A company vehicle will be provided;
• This role would suit a graduate with less than five years experience;
