Soil 2 Grain is a series of workshops, training courses and meetings that have been devised to keep you up to date with the latest results, techniques and guidelines from a GRDC funded project on Canopy and Disease Management interactions in cereal and canola crops.
This workshop is building on the work undertaken by Nick Poole (F.A.R.)

Topics for discussion:

  • Making better in-crop management decisions on nitrogen – Nitrogen dynamics in the soil, C: N ratios, mineralisation factors to consider, nitrogen budgets and the role of soil carbon – So how much nitrogen do we need to apply nitrogen this spring?
  • Disease management in cereals in the HRZ of Southern Victoria
  • Defining water availability for your crops
  • Plant Growth Regulators – Do they have a place in Australian broadacre cereal production in the longer season HRZ?

Canopy manipulation in canola and barley – a review of the project results in Southern Victoria to date.
