RabbitScan - May 2009
A new initiative called 'RabbitScan' was recently launched by the Rabbit Management Advisory Group (RMAG). RMAG is funded by Australian Wool Innovation, Meat and Livestock Australia and the Invasive Animals CRC (IACRC).
RabbitScan is aiming to:
- raise awareness of the impacts of rabbits on Australia's agriculture and environment;
- start a national rabbit threat mapping campaign by asking communities, schools and other groups/individuals to ‘scan’ their local areas for signs of rabbits and their damage; and
- get participants to load their results online during RabbitScan Month in May 2009.
The results will be used by the IACRC Science group to help to map and assess rabbit activity across Australia.
If you are concerned about rabbit impacts (or interested in raising the community's awareness of rabbit impacts) you can find out more at the following link: http://www.rabbitscan.net.au/joomla/index.php
Participants do need to register in order to be sent a survey kit in preparation for May.
