Bushfire Assistance Donations of Hay
Update
13/02/09 Update on hay donations for the bushfire appeal.
Geelong Branch - Inverleigh
Already we have transported 4 truck loads of large hay bales to the affected region and have enough pledged for another 23 semi-loads. The VFF is organizing transport from our “Inverleigh depot” to the affected areas. (SFS is offering the SFS Research Site at Inverleigh as an interim “hay storage depot”)
Streatham & Hamilton Branches – Lake Bolac, Hamilton, Western District
So far 24 truck loads of hay and stock feed has been transported (or organized to be transported) to the fire affected regions with another 10 semi loads pledged awaiting transport.

Please note that the VFF will pay for fuel if you are transporting stock feed to the fire area.

As you would be aware the stock will need feed for months to come so please keep the hay and stock feed donations coming.

To All SFS Members (and others),
We at Southern Farming Systems as well as the rest of the state and country have all been touched by the enormity of the recent bushfires. As you know there are so many heart-breaking stories.
We would like to try and give some assistance to some of the people that have been affected by the tragedy that has occurred.
We are trying to organize at least one truck load of hay to be delivered to the Kinglake area as soon as possible to feed what will be very hungry stock.
Southern Farming Systems will donate the use of our truck and staff will donate their time to deliver the hay. We are calling on the hearts and generosity of our farmer members and friends to donate some rolls or large squares of stock feed to help out our fellow farmers.
Ideally hay can be left at the Inverleigh Trial Site or alternatively you can call Gary Sheppard 0407 535 090 from SFS to arrange pick-up.
